László Józsa was born in 1957 in Subotica (former Yugoslavia) and attended a local elementary school as well as Moša Pijade High School. After graduating from the Law School of Novi Sad University, he opened his own law firm and accepts cases in civil and corporate law as well as criminal and petty offense cases.
Józsa has been long active in public life.
1983–2002: Chruch lawyer for the Yugoslav Christian Reformed Church
From 1990: Member, and later local president for the Subotica district, of the Democratic Community of Vojvodina Hungarians
1992–2000: Member of Parliament of the so-called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro)
1992–93: Deputy Assistant Secretary in Milan Panić’s opposition government, Sector for the Protection of Human Rights, Ministry of Human and Minority Rights
1994–2016: Founding member, Vice President (1996–2002), Member of the Presidency, of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians; in 2016, he is expelled from the party with 81 other members because they founded a civic organization called Hungarian Movement
1995–2006: Secretary of the Vojvodina Board of the Illyés Public Foundation, Budapest
1996–2004: Member of the Board of the Hungaria Television Public Foundation, Budapest
1999–2002: Member (from 2001, President) of the Temporary National Council of the Hungarian National Minority in Serbia
2000–2004: Member of the Subotica City Council, leader of the Caucus of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians
2002–2010: President of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority in Serbia
2003–2015: President of the Board of the László Szekeres Public Foundation
From 2013: Member of the Board of the Vojvodina Chamber of Law
In 2007, he was awarded for his public activities with the National Medal of Hungary, Medium Cross
Married, his wife Ibolya Józsa is also a lawyer. They have two adult daughters.
